Our Curriculum and Topics
At John Donne we use themed topics as part of a creative curriculum. The units are blocked into a series of weeks and children are immersed into their new topic with a ‘WOW’ day which will excite them and also provide opportunities for the teachers to find out what the children know and what they would like to find out.
To ensure that our topics meet the needs of our learners we teach some subjects discreetly, however where possible we will ensure that there is a close link between the overarching theme and the unit of work.
Within each topic children are taught National Curriculum subjects. They understand how what they are learning builds on what they have learnt in the past.
If you would like to find out more information about the curriculum then please do speak to Mrs Whitehurst or Mr Kirk
During your child's time at John Donne they will enjoy the following topics. Please click on the topic to access a knowledge organiser which will show you, in more detail, information about one subject. You can use these to talk to your child and discuss their learning.
